Common Pests in Schools
The most common issues in schools are generally related to food. Rodents can be attracted to food stored on the premises, especially chocolate being left overnight in draws and desks.
Children often drop food and litter on the playground and in classrooms, and lockers can be home to crumbs and detritus that attract rodents, ants, and other pests.
Wasp and bees nests in outdoor areas should be removed as soon as possible, to remove the risk of anyone being stung, especially in case of allergies.
Another potential source of pest control issues is children unknowingly transferring pests from home – fleas and bedbugs can travel on school backpacks and establish themselves at school.
