Common Heathcare Pests
The biggest fear for most hospitals and healthcare practices we know is bed bugs and rodents. Bed bugs can travel in on luggage or people and will set up a base quickly. From here they may spread throughout the building in other rooms. Even though bed bugs pose no risk to human health this pest can cause untold patient housing issues if wards need to be closed off for treatment. Rodents can also spread through out the cavities of the building if safe shelter and food sources are available.
Kitchens may encounter some pests like flies, cockroaches and rodents. Food safety authorities requires that you take appropriate measures for prevention, early detection, and control of pests in food areas. Untreated and non-managed pest problems in kitchens may see it being shut down.
Hospital kitchens often experience issues with flying insects, with some authorities now enforcing proactive measure be in place. Electronic fly killers and/or traps should be installed and monitored regularly.
